The project, War and Peace, commemorates the beginning of the First World War and aims to encourage pupils and staff to learn from our shared history. It focuses on how and why the European Union was created and what it means for us as global citizens. At its core, the project uses historical conflicts and current affairs to challenge and engage children so that they have a greater understanding of why things happen, conflict resolution and their own role within the world.
Over the two-year course of the project pupils and staff will be encouraged to think critically and creatively about cultural identities, the impact that events have had on their cities, countries and beyond, peace – what it means to them and current global issues. Through this, we aim for pupils to feel a greater connection to their peers across the world and gain a deeper understanding of Europe, its role in the world and our place within it.
